Content Description

Manuscript of Salt Creet--The First Fifty Years by James G. Crawford, Chemical and Geological Engineer out of Casper. The manuscript includes notes and inserts of material and is comprised of 24 chapters with a prologue and an epilogue. Researchers will also find Crawrord's research files pertaining to the early history of Salt Creek. It is thought that Crawford was working on his manuscript and collecting these materials between approximately 1961 and 1971, but his draft was never finalized. Crawford was publishing research articles on oil field waters in the 1940s as well though, so these years could be off. This overall group of records contains some newspaper clippings and issues documenting related bits of the history of Salt Creek and nearby towns. There are also drawings, maps, and photographs within his papers. Many of the photographs are reproductions from the Wyoming State Archives.
