Scope and Contents From 1943-1946, there was no activity or performance from the Symphony Orchestra of Casper because of WWII. Soon after the end of the war in 1947, a man named Blaine D. Coolbaugh revived the Symphony calling it Casper Civic Symphony. The items therein this file are programs from 1956 and 1958 that list Coolbaugh as the conductor to the CCS after WWII and they are the only programs from before 1959 in the collection until other programs and newspaper articles are documented in the scrapbooks...

Scope and Contents Curtis Peacock was the next maestro of the CCS and spent 30 years in total with the Orchestra. The Symphony gained local and national attention, was able to host some of its biggest, most successful events, and became a true, professional Symphony under Peacock's tutelage. Peacock was guided by assistant conductor Rex Eggleston for the 1972-1973 season, notably his trial run as conductor, and by 1974 he was official. Scope and Contents Ernest Hagen passed the responsibility of condutor onto Edmund Marty in 1962 who conducted for the Casper Civic Symphony until he resigned in 1970. Under Marty, the CCS became a more refined orchestra and they were able to host guest musicians locally, from other states, and occassionally from other countries. Casper College officially agreed to pay the orchestra conductor's salary, as well as provide a teaching opportunity at the community college as a musical educator. Hagen and Marty...

Scope and Contents Ernest Hagen was a music teacher in Casper and became the new conductor of the Casper Civic Symphony in 1959 whose members were from the community and later from the Casper College Music Department.
