Scope and Contents From the File: Curtis Peacock was the next maestro of the CCS and spent 30 years in total with the Orchestra. The Symphony gained local and national attention, was able to host some of its biggest, most successful events, and became a true, professional Symphony under Peacock's tutelage. Peacock was guided by assistant conductor Rex Eggleston for the 1972-1973 season, notably his trial run as conductor, and by 1974 he was official. Scope and Contents From the File: Casper Civic Symphony refers to the post-war condition of the Symphony Orchestra in Casper that started in 1947 with Blaine D. Coolbaugh as its director and continued until 1973 under Curtis Peacock. Under the name Casper Civic Symphony, the orchestra had five conductors: Blaine D. Coolbaugh (1947-1958), Ernest Hagen (1959-1962), Edmund Marty (1962-1970), temporary/assistant conductor Rex Eggleston (1970-1972), and Curtis Peacock (1972-1973). This file reflects a small part of the Casper Youth Symphony, created to inspire youth to be involved in music in the late 1950s. The Casper Youth Symphony is run as the sister symphony of the Casper Symphony in the same way as the official symphony. It is the adolescent equivalent of the Wyoming Symphony and the organization was invited to perform with the WSO as well as other talented groups around Casper for big, collaborative performances.
