Past Accessions Collection

The Past Accessions Collection consists of approximately 17 linear feet and over 900 files of individual or aggregate accessions of paper and possibly mixed materials made to the Casper College Library, its eventual special collections, and/or what became the Western History Center. The acquisition type for this collection is recorded as a deposit. It is not currently known if any of the materials were gifts, purchases or transfers though it is thought that some likely were any one of these different acquisition types. Originally stored in filing cabinets, accessions were numbered and arranged in the order in which they were added. Materials likely consist of items that fall into two different but complementary single repositories actively maintained as intellectually arranged and described units by the Library's Western History Center as of 2021. Materials in the Past Accessions Collection will not be disbursed to their respective single repository, but made discoverable and usable either individually or as part of the single collection. The origin or source of certain materials can be traced to existing papers, records, and other collections at times. These materials will have a corresponding relation field added to their existing papers, records or collections and vice versa when possible. They will not be incorporated as accruals at this time.
