Scope and Contents

This collection comprises documents, writings, and papers from the life and career of Margaret Demorest. It also includes materials related to family and friends of Margaret Demorest. A portion of the collection pertains to the Casper College Humanities Festival and the Demorest Lecture Series. Writings in the collection authored by Margaret Demorest are accompanied by documents pertaining to their creation and publication. Also in this collection is a set of dishware owned by Margaret, dolls, doll clothes and accessories, a tray of makeup, hats, gloves and clothing. There are also family heirlooms in the form of donated religious texts. Artwork has also been donated to the College by Jan Demorest. The artwork will be stored and managed in the Visual Arts building. Primary source material in the collection dates from approximately 1960-1911.

Apart from the donor's stipulation that the Library of Congress ISBN paperwork and number assignment not be made available to researchers, this collection is open to research use.

Biographical / Historical

Margaret Demorest taught at Casper College from 1962-1985, and founded the Casper College Humanities Festival along with the Demorest Lecture Series. An English professor and author, she specialized in the field of Shakespearean Studies, in particular Shakespeare’s Sonnets.
