Scope and Contents

This collection of records contains Pension Files for U.S. Colored Service men requested and used for research by Amelia Dyrek. Researchers will also find records and information on Matthew Campfield, who served in the Civil War and was Casper's first Coroner. Many of the files in this collection were requested from the National Archives. Some of the material in the accompanying research files was likely reproduced using collections and records in the Casper College Western History Center. The dates associated with the files in this collection refer to dates they were researched. 2002 is the year the files received from the National Archives were issued.
