Scope and Contents

This collection containts a series of collected and saved material on the Michie Family as well as a family photo album. In particular, researchers will find information on John Fremont Michie, his parents, Tena Crum Michie and other family members. There are two addresses in this collection. One from John Fremont Michie on the dedication of the Fair Grounds Building and one on Casper vs. Caspar, given at a meeting of the State Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. There are also multiple autobiographies and related materials.

Biographical / Historical

According to an undated Casper Air Terminal booklet in this collection highlighting John Fremont Michie as one of two men the terminal was dedicated to, “Fremont Michie was born in the Wyoming Territory near the Fremont Peak foothills on March 27, 1889. When Mr. Michie was six years old the family moved to the Bates Hole Ranch where he spend the rest of his life in the sheep ranching business. He served as Natrona County Commissioner for 16 years. During his tenure he was instrumental in the development of the Central Wyoming Fairgrounds and buildings, the hospital, library, Natrona County Home for the Aged, the formation of the County Recreation Commission and by working constantly with Government and County officials the securement of this Air Port and building.” His parents were Donald and Margaret Michie. Fremont and his wife, Tena Crum Michie, had two daughters, Margaret, born in 1922, and Mary, born in 1932.
