Series 3. Alfred J. Mokler's Writings and Editorial Copies, 1837-1960

This series consists of 1.6 linear feet of material in 3 boxes and contains handwritten and typewritten manuscripts written by Alfred J. Mokler, as well as typewritten manuscripts from authors of the Casper Literary Club, Casper Writer's Club, or Federal Writer's Project which were edited by Mokler. Not all materials include dates, but those that do range from 1837 to 1960.

Topics of the material include the history, geology, and geography of Casper, Natrona County, Wyoming, and the Western United States, as well as biographies and memoirs of notable members of Casper and Natrona County's early settler population. It also includes a small amount of author documentation, proofs, and manufacturing specifications for Mokler's books "Fort Caspar (Platte Bridge Station)", "Guardians of the Western Frontier", "Men of Wyoming", "Transition of the West", "History of Wyoming Freemasonry", and "Chronology of Wyoming".

This series is arranged into 9 sub-series by subject: 1 - Casper and Natrona County History | 2 - Wyoming and Western History | 3 - Platte Bridge Station, Fort Caspar, and Wyoming Forts | 4 - Native Americans and Settler Conflicts | 5 - Western Landscapes, Geology, and Natural Resources | 6 - Biographies and Memoirs | 7 - Miscellaneous Essays and Speeches | 8 - Alfred J. Mokler Publication Records and History | 9 - Notebooks. Each sub-series is arranged alphabetically.

It is not currently possible to separate out works written by Mokler from those written by others and edited by Mokler, as many of the documents are either unsigned or have had identifiable information cut away (presumably by Mokler himself). Some documents can be cross-referenced with Mokler's books or "Wyoming: A Guide to Its History, Highways, and People" by the Wyoming Writers' Project to confirm their authorship, but it has not been confirmed that every work included in this series was published. Many of the documents in this series written by Mokler or by authors of the Casper Literary Club, Casper Writer's Club, or Federal Writer's Project and edited by Mokler and may still be under the copyrights of their respective authors and publishers.
