Scope and Contents
Purpose of collection was to document the historical use of Independence Rock, the Oregon Trail, and various other pioneer routes. This collection includes photos of the trails, survey information of names found on the trails, burials on the trails, as well as the author's volunteer work and tours undertaken while compiling information for her book. It also includes valuable resources used by Hileman, such as copies of letters written on the trails during the late 1800s. Hileman also documented historical houses around Casper, WY and so the collection includes her work presenting this information to the Natrona County Historical Society in 1997. The general timeline for this collection is 1993-2002 and also includes the author's obituary.
