This is an item-level record for a heavily signed copy of the first volume of the 1947 Casper College Thunderbird annual yearbook. The names of Casper College administrators, faculty, and both the Casper Junior College Advisory Committee and the Natrona County High School District Board of Trustees members have been added to this record. Researchers can also use this record to look into aspects of Casper College's history as recorded at the time in various sections of the yearbook.

Much of the success of Casper Junior College may be attributed to our Dean, Maurice F. Griffith. A native of Colorado, Dean Griffith arrived in Casper in June, 1945, to begin work on the organization of the Junior College. He first became interested in junior colleges while attending Mesa Junior College in Grand Junction, Colorado. He finished his education at Colorado College in Colorado Springs, where he received his M.S. degree, and is now working to receive his doctorate from Colorado University. He served as an instructor at Mesa Junior College, and at Colorado University. He has also held positions as an electrical engineer. He enjoys photography, hunting, fishing, and flying. He has his pilot's license, with 200 hours of solo flying, and has acted as co-ordinator and instructor of a Civilian Pilot Training program, and in connection with the Naval Flight Training Program.
