New Frontiers WSO 2002-2004 Season Mailer, 2002-10-26 - 2003-05-10
Scope and Contents
After Peacock retired from the Symphony in 2001, they sought out new, talented conductors to take over the maestro's position. From 2001-2002 the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra embarked on their Season of Discovery, inviting six conductor candidates to Casper to host their own trial concerts. Candidates Nan Harris Washburn, Dennis Simons, Arthur Post, Dr. Patrick Patton, Jonathan Shames, and Alfred Savia each hosted their own concert during "The Search." The WSO had eight concerts that season, ending 2002 with a Family Concert and their final New Conductor Concert. By the final concert, the WSO Board evaluated all of the candidates and chose Jonathan Shames as the next WSO conductor. The only evidence of the search are some posters from the trial concerts and programs from that concert season.
